The Relief Computer & Digital Skills Instructor is responsible for assisting in developing, and leading in designing, delivery and coordination of digital literacy and fluency skills programming and workplace-focused skills training. The instructor equips participants with practical digital fluency and technical skills, including Microsoft Office applications, workplace technologies, and foundational digital skills and AI tools. They are required to maintain an effective working relationship with the team and the extended community in accordance with the Mission and Policies of YWCA Toronto and any funding agreements.

ABOUT YWCA TORONTO – SDC, MOTS & ETI
Skills Development Centre provides vocational and non-vocational strength-based programs, and offers a wide range of products and services both locally and nationally to individuals and organizations. Products and services can be purchased and/or are free (fully sponsored or subsidized). YWCA Toronto’s Education and Training Institute is a vocational college registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities offering two certified programs: Professional Office Administration Certificate and Professional Office Administration Diploma. Moving On To Success is an employment training program for low-income women and gender diverse people, some of whom may experience domestic violence or who are at risk of abuse.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for coordinating training and workshop development aspects for the SDC, MOTS and ETI programs
  • Assists in the co-development of curriculum which aligns with current workforce demands; including any facilitator guides, slide decks, exercises, assessment tools and resources for participants
  • Meets with partners and/or participants to assess suitability of programs, learning and training needs and makes appropriate referrals and recommendations
  • Develops systems and protocols for programs which includes registration, intake, outreach, referral and monitoring of training and resources
  • Updates materials based on participant feedback, labour market trends, and emerging technologies
  • Assists in training, mentoring and coaching participants in the programs
  • Prepares and delivers presentations and conducts outreach for programs
  • Responsible for processing program and participant file documentation using CTS (Client Tracking Systems) or other database softwares
  • Facilitates and delivers workshops and training for the project in collaboration with other staff and trainers as needed
  • Specializes and delivers basic to advanced levels of training with a focus on preparing participants with lower digital literacy and fluency to better participate in the Canadian labour market
  • Identifies, administers, scores and interprets relevant assessments for participants
  • based on participants' individual/specialized needs
  • Tracks attendance, participation, learning outcomes and provides feedback on participant progress
  • Ensures timely, accurate, and high-quality participant documentation, assessments, and reporting

QUALIFICATIONS
  • In-depth knowledge of an academic discipline normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree (examples: Curriculum Development, Adult Education, Career Counselling and Works Program, Social Sciences, Information Technology or equivalent) (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a related field
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including individuals facing barriers to employment
  • Workshop development and group facilitation experience necessary including in-person and online
  • Advanced digital and technological proficiency, including delivery of digital literacy/fluency training; strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams), Zoom, productivity and project management tools (e.g., scheduling and workflow platforms), learning management systems such as Google Classroom and practical familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT is required
  • Basic to intermediate use of design tools (e.g., Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset
  • Experience managing and administering Learning Management Systems (LMS), including course setup, content management, user support, and reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary
  • Strong knowledge of employment and training programs
  • Ability to use good judgement in employment counselling, participant referrals, and challenging situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure; ability to adapt to changes when required
  • Level B testing is an asset
  • Commitment to working with diverse groups
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to operate in an environment with minimal supervision
NB** This is an on-call / relief position with variable hours. Provides coverage and instructional continuity during staff absences or periods of increased program demand. May require evening or occasional weekend availability.
