The Business Administrator as a member of the YWCA Toronto Employment team, is responsible for a variety of coordination, administrative, financial and technical related duties and assists in the operations and facilitation of the effective administration of the programs. The Business Administrator will work as part of the team, contributing to quality service delivery and achievement of all Women in Trades and Technology programs’ goals. The position will maintain effective working relationship with vendors, employers and training partners and in accordance with the Mission and Policies of YWCA Toronto.

ABOUT YWCA WOMEN IN TRADES AND TECHNOLOGY
The Women in Trades and Technology programs provide training and employment service to women and gender diverse people interested in joining the construction, landscape and information technology industries. Programs are funded by MTCU (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities) and are geared to educate women and gender diverse people about career opportunities in non-traditional occupations and train them in trades-specific programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists the Manager with proposals and funders’ financial reports and forms
  • Assists with budget preparation and monitors budgets in consultation with the Manager
  • Assists with all regular and/or annual program audits required by funders
  • Oversees and monitors expenses and distributes between budgets
  • Responsible for preparing invoices and billing for all programs
  • Prepares quarterly financial reports and conducts periodic review analysis of the budget for the programs
  • Reviews monthly and quarterly financial statement, year-end financial reports and program proposals for YWCA in consultation with the Manager
  • Prepares and maintain records of all bookkeeping, accounts payable and outstanding payments, in accordance with YWCA policies
  • Analyses computerized financial statements, maintains accurate records of the revenue and expenses of the projects and keeps the Manager informed of discrepancies
  • Assists the Manager in the collation and timely submission of monthly/quarterly/annual financial claims and reports to funders

QUALIFICATIONS
  • In-depth knowledge of an academic or technical discipline normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree (e.g. finance, business administration, commerce or related field. Work involves application of theoretical knowledge to job related activities (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
  •  Demonstrated knowledge and experience in bookkeeping and general accounting principles required
  • 3-5 years directly related work experience
  • Must have advanced computer skills in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet, and database applications
  • Operates in an environment that has minimal supervision, requires flexibility, adaptability and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of women's services, settlement, skilled trades, information technology and employment programs is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work within an anti-oppression and feminist framework
  • Ability to maintain a positive approach and a professional manner at all times
  • Experience working within a multicultural environment
  • Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot computer hardware network connections
